WHAT IS VDA 6.3 PROCESS AUDITING?
VDA 6.3 is a quality management system standard and in-depth process-based audit tool developed by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) for organizations that provide automotive products or services.
However, the standard can be applied to any organization in any industry as a process audit tool, regardless of the scale of business, and the tool can be aligned with the entire product lifecycle, independent of its position within the supply chain. The process audit tool will detect crucial problems and/or deviations and their causes, so action plans to resolve them can be developed.
The standard is an extension of ISO 9001:2015 and aims to help companies meet growth, innovation, and compliance goals.
-
VDA 6.1 – System Audit to verify the overall effectiveness of the management system.
-
VDA 6.3 – Process Audit of the product realization processes.
-
VDA 6.5 – Product Audit to verify the product conforms to defined specifications throughout the manufacturing and dispatch processes.
As a Process Audit, VDA 6.3 is all about assessing the product life cycle. As with all standards and regulations, there is an increasing emphasis on identifying, assessing, and managing risk. It involves understanding the suppliers, managing change, and a focus on customer requirements and satisfaction. This way, you not only fulfill all customer requirements, but also optimize internal processes, reduce costs, and increase product quality.
Without a uniform and standardized procedure in day-to-day business, it is difficult for most site or branch managers to continuously improve these processes or even to have a clear overview of them. That’s why it is so important to put internal processes and processes on a reliable and standardized basis. This is exactly what the VDA 6.3 standard is all about.
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU WITH VDA 6.3 PROCESS AUDITING AND TRAINING?
We provide VDA 6.3 audits to support your internal processes and ensure compliance within supply chains. We also provide specialized audits, including layered process audits. We fully tailor each audit program to meet your specific requirements. Our audits are neutral, so they do not cause a conflict of interest and do not create a risk of internal or supplier technology leaks. By helping you to build a systematic process of continuous regular audits followed by improvement activity, we will ensure that your organization and supply chain remain sustainable and competitive.
When an audit is conducted, the customer or company to be certified is forced to look at their own processes more intensively. When we look at things together, specific processes can then be analysed and examined in more detail. For many an audit is a tiresome affair, especially if the client commissions an external company for process analysis. No one has the time, desire, or opportunity to work with the auditor! There is so much potential in regular audits, it would be helpful if the auditor is no longer regarded as just someone wielding a red pen, but rather someone who identifies and develops potential for improvement. The measures implemented as the result of an audit can increase the company’s added value.
We are also a leading provider of powerful professional training and development courses. What are the benefits of internal auditor training? A properly trained internal auditor offers many benefits for organizational growth and competency, as training bring enhanced skills and knowledge in assessing risks, planning audits, and compiling information for auditing reports.
As the business world changes at an accelerating rate, auditors need to keep up or risk becoming irrelevant and ultimately unable to provide the insight that will allow their organizations to succeed. That means they’ll need to continually add to their skills and knowledge. Ongoing, quality training focused on several key areas – including technology, communication, creativity, soft skills, and ethics – is a key component to providing value to the business.
