VDA 6.3:2023 - Recertification - Renewal of Qualification (Certified Process Auditor)

The VDA 6.3 process audit is an effective procedure for assessing processes in connection with the planning and manufacturing of a product. In order to conduct VDA 6.3 process audits, comprehensive knowledge, experience and competence are necessary. Thus, the qualification of relevant personnel is indispensable. According to ISO 19011, auditors are required to continuously improve their competence. This includes professional further education, e. g., by means of self-study and training. The validity of certificates is thus deliberately of limited duration so that auditors undergo further training in order to maintain their qualification.
 
An extension of their qualification can only be applied for by Certified VDA 6.3:2016 Process Auditors with a valid VDA certificate.
 
Certified VDA 6.3 auditors are able to independently conduct process audits internally and at the site of their suppliers. With the renewal of the certificate, participants can receive reconfirmation of their qualification from independent parties in order to fulfill the requirements of customers or suppliers regarding their auditor competence.
 
REQUIREMENTS
In order to extend a VDA 6.3:2023 qualification, the application must be submitted before validity expires. 
Evidence must be provided of audit experience in at least five process audits or potential analyses as a lead auditor within the validity period. Internal, as well as external process audits, are accepted. If the required audit experience cannot be verified, it will be necessary to complete the “VDA 6.3 – Workshop for Certified Process Auditor“ (ID 341) in order to achieve an extension of the VDA 6.3 qualification.
Evidence of knowledge of the Automotive Core Tools must also be provided. The training “Automotive Core Tools for System and Process Auditors” (ID 417) and the VDA qualification “Automotive Core Tools Professional” (ID 415, 416, and possibly 450) are recognized. Alternatively, evidence of a minimum two-day training about Automotive Core Tools by another training provider as well as the passing of an Automotive Core Tools online quiz is required. If the expertise in automotive core tools has been acquired informally, that means during the professional activity, the quiz can also be completed without formal proof of training. If the quiz is not passed, the “Automotive Core Tools for System and Process Auditors” course (ID 417) must be completed.

CERTIFICATE
After a positive review of the application, a new digital certificate with a registered number will be issued, along with the corresponding entry into the VDA QMC database. The certificate is valid for three years and it is your responsibility to ensure you apply for renewal before your certification expires.
